There are only two parts to this charging station. The pad it sits on to charge QI enabled devices and the micro USB cable that comes with it. Unfortunately my micro-USB cable came with a broken end (see the video). It was easy to grab a cable that came with my phone to use so it was not a show stopper, but the cable they sent was longer and made it easier to place the station on a table top near a plug.
The base itself is plastic with a soft ring underneath to hold it steady and another on top of it to hold the device (see the video). When plugged in it glows red to let you know it is ready. While charging a device it turns a bright blue. A moment after the device is fully charged the light goes off. When you remove the device it goes back to red to let you know it is ready to keep charging.
We tested with a Samsung Galaxy S6 in a case and it worked great. It took slightly longer than plugging it in but since you can always just ay it on top as you walk by you do not really notice the time difference.
Overall this is a great tool to have around the house. A side note is that I tried plugging this into one of those 6 port USB charger stations that auto detect the amps it needs to put it that I normally use. It did not seem to like this and would not make it come on. So I had to use the standard plug as the included spec sheet in the box clearly states.
